Anybody know of a good place to get my sled wrapped?
« on: February 08, 2014, 01:39:06 PM »
I want to wrap my 20' alumaweld sled that is painted camo right now. I'm wondering about prep process and cost. Anybody have any recommendations on someone to call? I'm debating on repainting or wrapping but I think the wrap might look better. The paint job on it now is pretty rough.

The wraps look really good but if you wan them to stay that way it is a lot of work. My grandfather picked up a used wooldridge that had a brand new wrap on it. It has had rocks come off the road and nic it while towing and it rubbed against some rocks at the launch while my son was trying to hold it away from them. It now has noticeable marks. I wish it had been painted.  :twocents:

If a wrap is done is there an easy way to take it off and replace it once it gets old.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

have to ask the installer about removal. Where are you at?  what kind of paint job are you looking for?  do you run it into the brush or are you looking for class. makes a difference as to what your looking for.
been on boats that looked like a million bucks & those that were worth a million as far as what they did. Where there they would go.
do you run the dunes in Osullivan (mardon area) or rivers with rocks.
think about your application. its all about what is functional as you need it.

I have had better luck with paint is all I was saying. Paint can be touched up....wrap can't and may want to start peeling.  :dunno:

That's about the same as saying that if I scratch my butt and get a streak in my underwear, it is the same as if I did it with no underwear.  One of these things is not like the other.  One.......kind of a big deal..........the other.........a really big deal.  Depends on how you look at it I guess.

Elbow grease extreme is needed to remove a properly installed wrap...  I removed mine from a 23ft Wooldridge.  Heat gun & propane torch worked best...  Think I'll keep straight aluminum til I decide what to go with..

Brad at      http://cohodesign.net/   does great work. If you search Ifish you will find a bunch of driftboats and sleds that he has wrapped. Top of the line work, and competitively priced. He did my driftboat, and if I were to get anything else wrapped it would be him doing it.

I had Brad at Coho Design do my Alumicraft last year. I would not only never do a wrap again I would never have Brad do another one. I am picky and was asking him a few questions while he was doing it. The things he was doing were not right. I am not a decal or vinyl installer but have alot of expierence with many different things as a general contractor. He asked me to leave until he was done. When I came back the boat was done but not well. It did not last and is not durable. NEVER AGAIN. Paint for me.

Wow! Thats too bad. Ive read a ton of reviews about him on Ifish and this is the first negative. Sorry to hear it didnt work out for you.
